Diet Suggestions for Healthy Teeth during Pregnancy

Healthy teeth are important to have as a pregnant woman, but did you know that it’s just as important in the development of their baby? During the second trimester, your baby’s teeth are beginning to develop under their gums, meaning a sufficient amount of nutrients are needed.

Eating the right foods can not only benefit your teeth but your baby’s in the future. Our team is going to give you some foods that can help in the growth of teeth for your baby.

Proteins

When you are deciding what proteins will be best, consider buying lean proteins at the grocery store. These may include: lean beef, skinless chicken, ground turkey or fish. Also try incorporating beans, eggs, peas and legumes into your weekly diet.

Dairy

Choosing low-fat or fat-free dairy products can be a great source of calcium and other essential nutrients needed for strong and healthy teeth.

Fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables should be at least half of what you consume in a day in order to provide you and your baby the necessary nutrients needed to build healthy gums, tissue and teeth.

Grains

Ensure that the grains you are eating are whole-grain products. Some whole-grain products may include: oatmeal, whole wheat bread and brown rice.
