A Partial Can Restore the Appearance and Function of Multiple Missing Teeth

Posted .

Chronic periodontal disease or a long history of tooth decay issues, can compromise the health of your mouth. While this might impair your ability to chew food, having missing teeth or teeth with large areas of tooth decay can also cause problems with your speech and impact your quality of life.

Being fitted for a partial is a two-step process. At the first appointment Dr. Groover will examine your mouth and take a few X-rays. It’s important to address any other problematic issues with your teeth at this time. Any other teeth with problems might need to also be treated or in some cases extracted.

Next Dr. Groover will take an impression of the area, which will be sent to a dental lab, where your new partial is custom-crafted to fit into the void created by the missing teeth.

At your second appointment Dr. Groover will fit your new partial in place and make any minor adjustments if necessary. A lot of people with partials prefer to use denture adhesive to secure their partial in place and help block out food particles.

If you’re thinking of getting a partial or you have questions about your current set, please feel free to give call Groover Family Dentistry in Savannah, GA at 912-354-9541 to schedule an appointment.
