If you want a strong and successful oral health, then it’s best to know everything you can about your smile. Today, our team wants to explain the anatomy of a tooth. That way you will understand how your chompers work and you will also know what your dentist, Dr. Groover, is talking about when you come into our office.
The different parts of a tooth include the:
-Crown: The crown is the section of the tooth that is visible to the naked eye. This section is the part that shows when you smile.
-Enamel: The enamel is the hard outer layer that is covering the tooth. This section acts as a shell and protects the tooth from tooth decay.
-Dentin: Dentin is the hard tissue that lies under the enamel. This section is naturally yellow and it tends to show when your enamel starts to wear away.
-Pulp chamber: The pulp chamber is the space inside the tooth that holds the nerve and blood vessels. If this section is infected, it causes extreme pain and it usually results in extensive treatment.
-Root: The root is the section of the tooth that lies in the bone socket. The root holds the tooth in place.
