Oral Hygiene and Smile Care Tips for Teens

Posted .

As a teen in the world today, there are many things that can harm your smile in more ways than you might realize, which is why we strongly encourage you to take care of your oral health as much as possible. In order to do so, we invite you to do the following things on a regular basis:

· Keep up on oral hygiene: Oral hygiene is one of the best ways to keep your smile in tip-top shape, so make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, floss between your teeth at least once a day, and rinse your mouth daily with mouthwash. Doing these things will help you have a beautiful smile and fresh breath throughout the day.

· Take care of your smile: It’s very important that you avoid eating sugary or starchy snacks. These products can cause tooth decay. We also recommend that you wear a mouthguard while you are active and you refrain from piercing any part of your mouth. Lastly, we strongly encourage you to resist smoking.

· Visit your dentist: Make sure you visit us at Groover Family Dentistry every six months for your dental cleaning and checkup. These appointments will help you completely prevent gum disease and they will also give our dental team the chance to fix any problems you might have.

· Take care of your aligners: If you currently are wearing an aligner, please do everything you can to keep them in top-notch condition. We also ask you to brush and floss your teeth after each meal and snack throughout the day.
